Do you use a notebook adapter or a USB adapter for wireless networking with your laptop?

Question: I'm thinking about getting the USB adapter for my desktop for wireless internet, I can also use that same USB adapter for my laptop instead of a notebook adapter right? those two are the samething? notebook adapter is like a pci adapter except its for the laptop? thanks

Answer: USB is not just USB, if the adapter is usb 2, you have to have the usb2 ports to support it (on both desktop and laptop) - also, if the usb adapter comes with a driver you have to install then just make sure you install it in both the desktop and the laptop. Then you should be able to use it in one OR the other at a time to gain wireless connectivity, however - if your laptop is a newer model, it probably has wireless capability built in? Go to the manufacturer's website with your make/model and check the specs - you may not need an extra wifi adapter for it. In that case, you might want to look at a pci wireless card for your desktop as it most likely will save you some money.
