Dell Inspiron 2200 is overheating?

Question: Dell Inspiron 2200 is overheating? I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 and it keeps shutting off randomly. The first time it shuts off after about 20 or 30 minutes after start up. The consecutive times are after about 5 minutes. Here are the steps I have taken to figure out the problems 1. Downloaded speedfan and say that fan1 was running at about 4300-4700 rpm and HD0 is 34C and temp1 is about 84C. Also fan2 and 3 are at 922 rpm.Although I assume it is overheating, I wanted to add that it isn't actually hot to the touch 2. called dell tech support. My warrenty is out but she said she would run diagnostic and see what the prob was. We ran diagnostic til the computer shut off halfway through. She said it appeared the fan was overheating. 3. Bought a targus chill mat butit didn't help then I ran diagnostic and the only thing it said was the the AC adapter was bad. COuld that be shutting it down? THe AC adapter is for a laptop but not for The inspiron itself. should I buy a dell charger?

Answer: Chances are it is the adapter causing your problem. NEVER use an adapter that didn't come with your machine. The adapter was designed to use the proper voltage, and amps for that particular machine. the use of anything else can damage your machine. Don
