Answer: You can use another brand of AC adapter, but you need to make sure the adapter produces the correct voltage and enough current. If the original AC adapter produced 9 volts at 300 mA, you can't replace it with a 12 volt 300 mA adapter. Nor could you replace it with a 6 volt adapter. You need the voltage your device requires. As for current, you need at least the same current as the original adapter put out. If it put out 300 mA you can't use one that only produces 100 mA. You can replace it with one that produces 500 mA. As long as the voltage is correct, the current capacity can be the same or more than the original adapter.
